New Butterfly Species in Singapore
A New Lycaenidae species for Singapore! Nacaduba biocellata ( Two Spotted Line Blue ) has became Species No:281 in the Butterfly of Singapore Checklist.
The first sighting of the species was recorded in 2004, 2nd sighting in 2005, 3rd sighting in 2006, on 08 Feb 2008 it was again spotted and recorded by members of ButterflyCircle. In the last 2 days a colony was found and a voucher specimen was taken and it has been positively identified as Nacaduba biocellata ( Two Spot Line Blue ). The Nacaduba biocellata is common in Australia, ButterflyCircle was very careful in evaluating its existence on Singapore Island. The latest discovery of a colony of the butterfly leaves us with no doubt that it has established itself in Singapore.
