The top 3 pics take with which camera?
are they taken together at the same time as the below 2?

Hi achmadi ,

i am a newbie too.

how's your K10D?

the new K20D and K200D are hitting the store soon... so i am wondering whether to go for which one, or simply buy a second hand K10D instead (cheaper lah).

currently using a canon G5 but thinking seriously about switching to pentax ...

what can i do with my canon USM24-135 and EX540 flash !? Is there any canon-pentax converter in the market?

appreciate any members comments ...

Welcome to the Pentax famly. I'm sure you'd love staying here. Seems you got a very good start w/ the two lens combo. Hope to see more posts from you soon

Cheers and happy shooting.

If money is a concern, I think it's a better deal to get a second hand K10D or even a K100D. Both are excellent cameras, and you can save abit to get some better lenses. I'd suggest to go with the K10D for its features over the K100D, although I love and both cameras.

Sorry, I'm afraid you can't use Canon flash or lenses on a Pentax camera, and I don't know if there is such adapters for you to do so. If you wanna keep using the lens and flash, why not getting a Canon? The Canon 30D or 40D is an excellent camera too. But of course, if you prefer inbody anti shake, you can't have that with a Canon .

Good luck.

For your Canon flashes, one alternative I guess is to tape up all but the center pin, and use it in manual mode.

thanks feng wei, appreciate your inputs ...

i am thinking of switching over from Canon because
1) expensive lenses;
2) entry model DSLR does have all the exciting features such as anti-shake and weather-proofing;

on paper at least, Pentax K10D or K20D is definitely a better buy than Canon 400D or 40D. 8-)

actually, second-hand stuff is good enough for me but I am not so qualified to pick and choose ... paiseh ...

Cool. you had considered the life cycle cost of Pentax over Canon.

Perhaps you can sell off your canon stuff and move over to pentax to a fresh start?

No doubt, you lost something, but you gain something too.

Yeah man ... i am a convert (to Pentax) ... just like I was supporting Canon (film-based SLR) in the old days when Minolta and Nikon were the king of lenses ...

Actually, would u think that the local stores will sell me K200D body and smc PENTAX-DA 18-250mm F3.5-6.3 ED AL (IF) Lens without the accompanying kit lens?

Otherwise, no choice but to consider K20D body + DA18-250, unless K10D's price drops considerably.

Wonder how much better the SR is on the new K20D as compared to K10D?

I guess you should be able to get body only and purchase the 18-250. I guess the price would be better.

The SR should be better since one of their specs had stated improved SR? In fact the SR on K10D is already very good. Perhaps it is better on K20D

Hi,
They were taken by Canon A570IS. That's a great camera, always produce sharp and clear image if you supply them with enough light. And yes, they were taken at the same time as the below 2.

I still use that canon for taking a simple daily picture.

Hi LancerEX, Im very happy with my K10D. It's well built and feels strong like a tank.

At first I'm considering on waiting for K20D, but its like a computer, there's always a better product within next 2 - 3 month. So my suggestion is just grab the best option you can get right now and start learning on how to get a good picture.

I think K10D is a great starting point, I never tried K100D before but my friend told me that is a very good and light camera.

Good luck buddy!

Totally. If i never got the K10D a couple of months back waiting for the K20D i won't learn as much Don't worry too much. Every year definitely have new models anyway... buy k10D now, next few years upgrade to what, K30D or even K40D or whatever. You'll always enjoy new cameras in the future. And you'll enjoy more when u have all the skills in handling a pentax camera when playing with ur new toy a few years later

thanks ilario, achmadi for your kind thots ...

yes, i have my canon G5 with me and it has serve me well -ie taking bright daylight and outdoor shots. G5 is not recommended for night scenery without tripod and its metering can go haywire most of the time. At 5MP, my photos can get pretty grainy One pros about G5 is its LCD panel's ability to swivel out and twist in any direction, so that I don't have to lie down flat on my back and peep through the viewfinder.

I suppose most dSLR doesn't provide for such versatility.

I feel that the SR will be very helpful in poor lighting conditions such as an on a cloudy day or before the rain pours. Would like to test SR capability while riding in a jeep on a bumpy road though.

Cheers,
