tamron 200-400mm/f5.6 - any users out there?

can i ask if there are anyone still using this long-discontinued lens? came across a couple of them on sale in ebay in my hunt for a long tele for some sporting events in school.

just like to find out how is this lens in actual use. read a few sparse reviews online - most users complain about the slow AF (like duh... it's a non-AFS/USM lens lor...) and the CA at 400mm.
