hey guys, about the H series, specifically the H7 and H9, what does the nightshot do? issit some nightvision function, or a function that enables you to capture bright skylines at night?
and how much of an improvement does the telephoto lens do for the cam, and is the wide angle lens panoramic? sorry for all the questions.. just dont wanna regret after buying it.. |

Only the H9 has nightshot. It basically removes any IR filters and turns the camera into something like the military nightvision... I.E. you can see stuff in total darkness, but it'll be green and grainy.
For bright skylines at night, almost any camera can do this, it's just long exposure.

what about the additional lens you can buy for them? is the wide-shot lens a panoramic lens and how much of an improvement on zoom does the telephoto lens do? |

If you don't need the nightshot of the H9, just get the H7. The current Sony offer for H9 is ridiculous. $899 for the camera plus MS plus the photo printer which I think not the very useful.
H7 is more or less an adequate camera in the prosumer range. 15X optical zoom, manual settings are some features of H7. I got friends using the H7 and are very happy with it. Only downside is you may need to get a second battery though. H7 is using the same battery as the T20, and some intense use of the flashes will chew the life hard. |
