Default Cheap printer cartridges/papers !?!

Are you feeling the pinch with the high cost of printing digitally at home? I am well certain it costs more to print professionally in the shop but I am not conducting a price comparison here whether you print at home or out in the shop.

So, let us just focus on home printing alone....

A black and a colour cartridges ($50 to $60 for both) will probably last you to about 20 pieces of A4 prints. That amounts to approximately $2.50 to $3.00 per A4 print for cartridges alone.

Depending on paper types, it varies from 50 cents to $1.50 each.

On average, it costs around $4 for a A4 size print. On surface, it looks alright but it won't be psychologically if you print in large quantities or when you paid for the cartridges over the counter with thick and hard cold cash ...

Through business contacts, I may have found a supplier who supplied to retail shops various brands' printer cartridges/papers (not parallel import).

I want to see how much saving we will get if this supplier were to supply to us through mass order.

But, first thing first, I need to know and ascertain the demands here in clubsnap to justify a order with this supplier.

I wouldn't bother with 3rd party cartridges (like SEPOMS, FullMark and the like). Who knows when they fade and the colour quality of them man....

I only use original T007 and T008 cartridges for my Epson 890. They cost $27 and $28 respectively, and yeah, like you said, lasts around 20 pages. Don't mind the alternative inks like the Lyson Photonic though, but they cost around the same. ($100 for a set of 890 inks - 1 black, 1 colour, 1 black cleaner, 1 colour cleaner).

Paper wise, the Ilford papers give the Epson originals a run for their money. Galerie Smooth Pearl costs $18 for a box of 25 A4s, compared to $25 or 26 for a pack of 20.

Home inkjet printing is not worth it unless you can get it right without too many test prints. And is also more worth if it you only print A4 or bigger.

I'd be interested if I can get the original cartridges at lower than $27/28 for those models mentioned.

Regards

Yeah, I am using original too!

But then, for my late Epson 890's cartridges, I paid

Epson T007 Black Cartridges - $24.90
Epson T008 Colour Cartridges - $26.44

Purchased at South Asia Computer Pte Ltd, Funan Centre

compared to what you paid, errr..... please don't bang yourself against the wall

I am not surprised if someone in this forum get back to us with even cheaper purchase. For this supplier, I am expecting the price to be less than what I used to get for my T007/T008.

yeah...I'm thinking too but Epson simply too expensive ink. I am trying to finish off my ink carts before converting to Canon i950.

With canon, I'm thinking of getting a consignment from Weink or Inkjetgoodies. I wouldn't touch the local 3rd party like Nipponink or SEPOMS as they worry me in terms of quality.

Sorry to digress a bit but I will like to ask whether how do you all keep the Epson printer heads clean at all times. My 790 suffers from blocked nozzles quite frequently and its a pain and waste to keep cleaning the heads as it wastes a lot of ink.Is there another way to clean them without wasting ink? I know using it everyday will reduce blockage who prints everyday?

Also if anybody can get cheap original T007/T008 I will be very

Please update the list I painfully did for the items you want to order if the MO falls through, thank you!

There was once I brought my "clogged" printer head (I had problems with BLACK colour test pattern) of my newly bought 890 to Epson Customer Service Centre. I cleaned more than 8 times, so I told the Epson technician...

He tried to clean too but to no avail. Guess what he did? He took out the BLACK cartridge briefly and inserted it back again. The printer head worked!!!

I asked him is this what I am going to do if I faced similar clogged head problem? He said no and advised me not to try this at home!

Despite his warning, I tried on few occasions and it worked but not always...

As for solving your printer head problem, I was advised by the Epson technician, if you don't use your printer often, it's better to power on your printer everyday or whenever you remember to charge up the ink or something like that to prevent clogging.

Another thing which I have learnt is if the printer head still clogged despite several futile cleaning attempts, I would stop cleaning and stop wasting ink.

I will let the printer "rest" for a while first before I start cleaning again. It seems to work...

Does anyone consider printer other than Epson as their next choice of printer? I use to be a Epson loyal supporter, purchased few Epson series of printers including the early dotmatrix ones. The reason why I choose Epson is becos of the lowest cost-per-page....yes indeed, like some of you commented, I experienced print head clogged problems...with once so serious that the print head have to be replaced, which cost me over $100 including service charge by Epson...

as suggested by Epson, we have 3 options :

1) leave your printer on, this will keep the printhead hot at all time thus preventing clogging
2) do periodic head cleaning
3) do printing every fortnightly

I am not anti-Epson; just in case anyone of you thought I am another competitor making such remarks....seriously, I will only recommend Epson for users who prints regularly....

Hi guys,

Sorry for the delay...

I have got the pricing but have reverted back to the supplier for a better quote. You should hear from me pretty soon with the new quote.

Hi, Lytefunk

Is your Cartridge:

Epson T007 (Black) ?
Epson T009 (Colour) ?

Hi, innovas1

I have also given them your items to quote.

Once I received the new quote, you will then decide the quantities you needed or if you still want to order.

By the way, I have not done any MO before. How does it work actually? I mean payment and collection of order wise...

Please advise.
