Default Baby abused by maid (Singapore)

My wife and I wanted to get a maid (we just became parents), but after watching this video, we decided to look for alternatives.

The video is pretty heartbreaking. Those who are parents will understand.

Nothing wrong to hire a maid. Just do not leave your baby with the maid alone at home.

Not all maids are like that. Like what bro Megaweb said if you do not leave them alone with the baby in the house, it's quite ok.

My parents stay with me and we've got a maid to look after my kids when they were younger and my maid never gave us much problem. Oh BTW, todate we've had 3 maids (1 ran away as her main purpose to come here is not to be a maid but to earn more money the easier & quicker way). The other 2 were pretty good and we've had Indonesian maids all this while.

Sometimes the employer maybe at fault also. For example, ill-treatment may lead to psychological imbalance.

True, but that doesn't give the maid the right to do what she did.

Employers ill-treat you? Complain to agent/MOM/police/ embassy etc.

i dont think you can understand what is going through their mind, compare to them, you lead a very good life until now. you had walk a very different path from them.

i had the chance to work with lots of foreign worker, seen how they were treated, but non will complain to even HR, let alone MOM/police...etc. and i can understand why.

also, there are no lack of employer ill treating the maid in singapore too.

there are always some black sheep. i dont agree to what she has done but we dont know what happened with the house do we.

like some had mentioned, sometime, it depends on luck, but most, there is always a cause and effect.

Not really leh.. Some maids are good some are bad. So, like this couple, set up a camera and review on your HP whenever possible. Once you see abuse, call the police and rush home lor.. Bo bian.

if there's smoke, there's usually fire somewhere.

likewise, for the maid to be kicking/lashing out at the baby, something must have been the stressor for her to react the way she did.
