Law of physics. Larger drivers tend to have better frequency response and can go deeper. The said HD600 can go as low as 16Hz IIRC. Don't buy based on specs though.

I heard great user comments about the Sony 7506 (also known as V6) which retails for slightly under $200. Go test it out, you might be impressed.
You mean 580 is discontinued? The last time I checked (long long time ago) it is in the $300 range.

I am using Sennheiser HD 25 SP, and I really love it! The bass is damn good. Good value for money... $120, and not too big for me. Only thing that isnt that good is that it has a big 1/4" jack plug and needs an adapter for my cd player.
Please do not respond to ads from a long time ago. Chances are items have already been sold.

Wah ckiang, where did your friend get it from? I got mine from Hung Brothers in 1998/9 at $550 then. The HD600 came out in 1997 though.

That's what the guy at Hung Brothers told me when I went there last week. Maybe you can still find it at some stores, I am not sure.

Anyway, just be warned that there are some headphones e.g. Beyerdynamic DT770 pro that sounds much better with a dedicated headphone amplifier. Also check that you can buy replacement parts easily before committing to a particular model, esp. when buying a really expensive pair.

unless u going to hand hold ur discman/mp3 player all the while or on a desk, this ear phone canot make it

but the sound it produces is top notch! esp, with its price tag
I think the reason why the cord is short is because most players nowadays come with a remote control which you clip on to some part of your body. A long cord would be more likely to get entangled.

Brothers... Go and try out the Bang & Olufson Earphone (They only have one). I've pesonnaly tested it from a friend who bought it. It beats ANY earphones around. Last known cost $160. Very comfortable and cool looking. Cord is long enuf. Best thing is with the warranty. If my memory serves me right, its at least 3 years 1-1 xchange (I might be wrong on this)

The earphones sensitivity is very good, so it won't strain the player to output signals to the earphones.

Lastly, its a B&O!!! Everybody knows the quality of B&O stuff...

    Cheers

Dunno about this new earphone, but all their systems I've heard in the showroom is sub-par, doesn't justify their high prices. Even Bose (which is not very, very good to begin with) sounded better than the B&O HiFi IMO.

Its not those short 0.5m cord for remote control

its not very long and not very short at 1m, the jack end is L shape, those for remote will be straight ones

Grado SR80 headphones at the Adelphi for $200+/- I think.
I don't think there is any better headphones at that price, smooth mid-range, clear high freq, very spacious stereo effect and deep powerful bass, retro-looking as hell though, ahaha.

Ya man, I support Sennheiser too. The MX-400 (I think) that i bought may look like a $15 ear phone that cost $25+ but the sound it give is much better then a $50 ear phone of other brands.

    Default BANG & OLUFSEN EARPHONES

Hi guys, I've been an owner of the above for the past 2.5 years, my warranty of 3 SOLID years will be upz soon. They have never disappointed me in any way, great sound, cool design, great form factor, adjustable for all ear shapes and sizes. I was put on the waitlist for this pair as it was the second batch into our sunny island.

The warranty rocks, I've personally exchanged a pair as the wiring at the plug end was loose (due to my own neglect though). They gave me a NEW SET IN BOX! It has survived my many daily abuses, ranging from long distance cycling (overseas) to my stairmaster programs to my almost daily workout sessions. I have never spent so much on a pair of earphones before this but I must add, no other earphones has lasted me that long. My friend Marshy will testify to this.

You can convince yourself by popping down to Grand Hyatt Hotel B&O showroom and ask for a demo. Bring your own CD/MD/MP3 player, turn up the bass and be your own judge. They will of course demo on their systems but then I highly suspect you will be testing 2 variables by then ;-P

With this pair, it handles Andrea Bocelli and Sarah Brightman at max volume, max bass and holds its own. There is no other ... hear it to believe it ... last known price was $175 ... I think 2.5 years back...

    Good Luck and regards ...

Default B&O showrooms and onboard SQ in-flight sales

Errr .... unfortunately, they don't have it in SL .... hmmm did I spot you opposite Specialists Shopping Centre squating down and taking aim at the traffic couple of days ago?

Anyway, bro, take it from me, just head down to Hyatt and have a "test listen", they're quite friendly even if you don't buy. Like I said, bring your own gear plug it in and then decide. For me, a pair of earphones used to last me 9 months MAX, and I ususlly buy the best / latest too. The warranty for 3 years is good enuf. I forgot to mention that I had it dipped into water for about 20 secs and it continued to perform till today.
