This looks more like a case of internal reflections rather than lens flare.
Lens flare has the typical polygonal shaped artifacts, bright streaks and an overall reduction in contrast. This comes from light coming at an angle. Looking at the picture, the lens actually is pretty good in control of flare. The funny shapes is likely due to a combination of either your filter (if you had one on) or the lens itself. Your 18-250mm superzoom has 16 elements, so the probability for multiple internal reflections is there. For this reason zooms (with more lens elements) are more susceptible to lens flare and internal reflection than prime lenses.

im guessing its because you have a filter on
like what creampuff said, its most prob internal reflections If you dun have a filter on,and there're lights pointing towards your lens it can cause internal reflections as well |

Can think of a lot of number for you to use...
Image number, lens zoom range, lens serial number, body serial number, battery serial number... Number of lights on pictures, number of flares in pictures... + whatever numbers you can find in the pictures... ![]() |
