Default Sony 100mm f2.8 Macro

I just got this lens last weekend and I tested today I found that the focusing ring is very stiff during MF, I don't know whether this is due to new lens and it will loosen over the time. I am pretty happy with the sharpness and color rendition but I really despise the built quality and plastic construction for 1k plus macro lens. I think the lens the most ex compared to C or N for same focal range macro. Any comments for this lens owner for focusing ring stiffness?

Well, it costs about 700 SGD in the USA.... It's also one of the sharpest lenses around, but the MF ring should be very smooth.

Another minor problem to boot, the bayonet hood doesn't come with fitting position marking......

Hi bro,

The new 100mm lens uses the same non-rotating mechanism(focus ring) for AF. This non rotating feature actually have a slight "tightness" when using the lens in Manual focus. Even the 24-105mm lens the 200mm f4 Macro aslo have this feature of non-rotating AF ring at AF. It should not loosen through use.
