Err sorry .... but what do you mean by "the bulb mode doesn't appear at the top."

You set the rotary switch to M, rotate dial till BULB appears on the LCD, and press and hold your shutter for the duration you need, then release.

Did rotate dial on and on.
To clarify, dial is the teethed and jagged thingy right?right infront of the shutter.
The bulb mode should be shown on the LCd but it doesn't!

You using A100?

Strange ...

Check this dpreview page out for a pictorial view as well as details on the M mode.

After selecting M mode with the exposure mode dial, then turn the Control Dial (yup ... the one in front of the shutter) to select shutter speed ... in this case to get BULB!

If you using A100 with a single aperture/shutter-speed dial depending on your menu setting the dial may behave differently. To get BULB mode, just change to M(anual) mode and change the shutter speed till BULB appears (it's after the 30 seconds shutter speed).
