there is no need to spam across the forum boards with the same question. regardless of brands, the answer will still be the same - life span down to your luck and usage.

    I don't think 20D has 100K, only 30D onwards is 100K.

I am using PreviewExtractor to check the shuttercount metadata in a jpeg file taken directly from the camera. It is free and simple to use.

    correction. BobAtkins listed the following..

The EOS 20D has a high performance shutter designed for increased reliability (100,000 cycles), the Digital Rebel XT has the normal Canon shutter (about 50,000 cycles).

    but 10D is 50k though.

isn't too early to change @ 20K instead of 50K?

I didn't ask them. But all these are mechanical parts so failure before its life limit is reached is pretty common.

Why worry so much? Just have fun shooting.

The shutter count is just a estimate. Your shutter maybe die before the rated shutter count. Or it could last for much longer.

But of course, a higher end camera's shutter will be designed to last longer.

CCD and CMOS can also fail w/o warning.

Yes, don't be too fixated about the shutter count.

Agree, but they do not fail as easily as the shutter unit.
