SINGAPORE: The world's first night Formula 1 race will officially kick off at 8pm, on 28 September in Singapore.

F1's governing body, the Federation Internationale de l'Automobile (FIA), has confirmed the official timetable.

In a statement, FIA revealed that qualifying sessions will be held a day ahead of the race after sunset, which falls on 27 September.

To help drivers get used to the new track, Singapore GP said the first practice on 26 September will take place from 4pm.

The second session will run after dark, from 8pm.

The organiser will announce the timings for the other side races. -CNA/vm
