Tamron just announced they will be releasing a new 10-24mm f3.5-4.5 UWA lens including a Pentax version: http://www.tamron.com/news/35mm/1024_pma08.asp That'll be a great competitor to the Sigma 10-20 In addition to all the new Pentax lenses just announced, this brings a total of new/updated lenses due out during 2008 for Pentax to 17 new lenses plus a TC!: Pentax (by summer 2008) - 7 lenses: DA 18-55 mkII DA 55-300 f4-5.8 DA*200 f2.8 DA*300 f4.0 DA 35 f2.8 macro DA*60-250 f4.0 DA 17-70 f4.0 (after Summer 2008) - 3 lenses + TC 15mm Limited DA*30mm DA*55 f1.4 Sigma - 4 lenses 50-150 HSM 70-200 HSM 120-400 HSM 150-500 HSM Tamron - 3 lenses 17-50 f2.8 70-200 f2.8 10-24 f3.5-4.5 This year looks pretty good for us Pentaxians ![]() |

This looks to be an exciting year, with quite a few new lenses and sensors...
Will have to wait and see how good this new 10-24mm really is. The specs are certainly a big improvement over the last one. Last time I checked (b4 buying the Tokina 12-24mm), the Tamron 11-18mm f4.5-5.6 was generally not well received. |

That's good, Pentaxians now have more choices for lenses.

Hope it's competitive to the Sigma in both image quality and pricing...

Thanks for this post! Tamron wide zoom seems really attractive if matching the quality of sigma 10-20
Looking forward to pentax 15mm limited. It seems like a good option too if it is going to be light and compact |

Fisheye lens give good effects but you also want undistorted wide angle images too. If only they can design a 10mm lens that can easily switch from fish eye to "rectilinear" (is this the correct term?) whenever needed, that would have been one cool lens!
BTW, anyone has any idea how much will this Tamron cost? I have a touch of "night86mare 10mm" buy flu....if price is right, will "cure" it instantly! ![]() |

Yes... I was damn tempted by the Sigma 10-20 too...
Now I will wait for the Tamron 10-24 to see how it turns out... :P Then again, my company's on the headlines lately for all the wrong reason. So I better hang on and see what happens to my job before I give in to any temptations... |

I was tempted to get a Sigma 10-20 too due to its low price, especially on the second hand market. Now the Tamron 1024 looks even tempting ![]() |

I'm guessing it'd be within 800 to 1k mark. But who knows. Tamron lenses haven't been too expensive so far, let's hope it's affordable as most other Tamron lenses.

Just curious... how much does a Sigma UWA 10-20 cost? Am looking for a wide lens to "complete" my range for the time being.
