A great Zeiss Lens for Sony Alpha DSLR. Price was indicated at US$1,750. This price should be inline with Nikon recent release lens for the same range at f/2.8. This is the lens that will make me jump ship from Nikon to Sony...

How to differentiate whether it is full frame or aps-c lens from the model name for sony lens? I know about canon, nikon, sigma, tamron.....

APS-C only lens has "DT" in it's name. If you look at SONY STYLE website, have to click on the lens detail and see if the "DT" initial in it.
For the CZ lens range, only the CZ16-80 is "DT", the rest are all FF. All "G" lens are FF. ![]()

here are the samples photos from this beast.. http://lensbuyersguide.com/en/lens/s...mm_F2.8_ZA_SSM
its really a CZ in sharpness and contrast .... my taste would still go for minolta colors and bokeh...comparison between the old and new http://lensbuyersguide.com/en/lens/compare/479-86 Last edited by koolbeep; 31st January 2008 at 09:58 PM. |

This event is on local press A700 launch in Indonesia. I used A700 with this amazing lens. My initial impression : tough build quality, very fast AF performance and silent (SSM), sharp ! Thanks to Sony Indonesia on providing this lens ! |

34cm minimum focusing distance sounds really good!
Only that its really heavy at 0.95kg. And I really dun like the lack of internal zooming especially for such a high end lens (but that's a personal preference). |

Can you tell us more about the quality of construction and the feel of the lens. Is the zoom well damped? Does the lens have a solid metal lens barrel, including the grip areas? The old Contax AF lenses were constructed this way. Thanks. |

Probably because it's shot at f2.8, and there isn't a definite spot to focus upon...
