Very interesting. The new concept of quick AF live view by tilting the pentamirror instead of flipping it up.

Yes, simply ingenious. I am a Nikon/Fuji user, but with more innovations like this (and maybe implemented on a 24MP FF sensor in the future) i might consider jumping ship and fork out $$$ for expensive Carl Zeiss lenses!
I used to have a Canon G5 and I really like the swivel LCD and ability to shoot from the hip (literally). |

Could be slightly better than the one in E330 - instead of splitting light, it selects the path. But this LCD screen doesn't seem to allow shooting at waist level in portrait orientation - this is not a square format after all.

U can flip the LCD upwards by 90 degrees to give a waistlevel finder... read the photoclubalpha article.

Very clever. With all these innovations in the camera bodies, Sonolta is definitely not lagging very far behind. Canon's been top notch for noise performance for a while but I'm pretty much positive that better and better models will keep coming out from the rest of the pack... especially in the semi-pro/consumer areas... For e.g. D300 gives 40D a run for the money for high ISO... and now a200 has a CMOS sensor... and a FF Sony sensor has been announced.
It's going to be interesting. ![]() Last edited by ditikolon; 31st January 2008 at 02:29 PM. |

Wow... Sony is really getting very aggressive in marketing, what a far cry from the Minolta days!

This is interesting, given that CCD and CMOS have their own characteristics and advantages. Historically, images from cameras using CMOS chips has been softer than that from CCDs: though the Exmor CMOS on the a700 has better noise control with higher ISOs, the 14mp CCD on a350 (after looking at some sample photos) seemed to have greater resolving power in lower ISO sensitivities (Although the advantage seems to be lost in higher ISO sensitivities). This sensor characteristic sets the camera to be one of the bodies that is more suitable for shooting situations that doesn't demand high sensitivity, like landscape, still life, portraiture. Coming to that, Ugh... There's suddenly a BBB urge to diversify my equipment range with a CCD equipped body just for landscape/still life/portraiture work... and given that the a350 isn't that expensive, can consider getting one... ![]() But before one gets hasty, it's better to wait. There are a lot of rumors around the place, and camera bodies are rolling out like buns from the steamer - like you said, this year is certainly going to be an interesting year. ![]() Say, it would be nice if we have a cheap, single-shot CCD based high resolution camera... like a mini Hassy H3D-22... ![]()
