![]() *EDIT* Photo comes out abit grainy here. -Changed the pic to a smaller one with flickr. the orange bit on the top right distracts my attention from the colour pencils.

I agree... a tighter crop may work better in this case.

Try not to place the interesting portion (aka the colourful pencil tips in this case) right in the center of the pic.....use rule of third.
Now a tighter crop with good placement of the tips can still be done. UP the contrast a bit too.

The orange thing in the background is kinda distracting, and you could ahve used a tighter crop of only focusing on the pencils and lesser depth of field, other than that, its nice
