taiwan brand datafab had already announced a new mulit-reader for the MS Pro, but that's only an announcement, no product in sight yet, not even on their website.
I was hoping to see some in the PC show next week at Expo. Waiting for Sandisk and LExar to release their MS PRO, as currently only have SONY ones and no competition means no price cut. Hopefully 256b MS PRO will go for less than $200 and 512Mb for less than $400. |

Bought the Sony Reader MSAC-US2.
They say can support Pro sticks. Pro sticks price from sony.com.sg 256 = $300 512 = $600 1gb = $1200 usually outside is about $10-$20 less....yet to check. |

CP and AP are selling the 256Mb MS PRO @ abt $240-250. so it's about $1 per Mb. like the good old days of CF. which I feel is too expensive still, maybe $0.75 per Mb is still ok, but that's still more expensive than the fastest CF out there, can compete with Lexar's WA CF already. The SONY's reader can read MS PRO, that's because it can read "MagicGate" Memory Sticks, for those who don't know it's those WHITE Memory Sticks you see on sale and the reason they are so expensive is because they have copyright protection: for SONY's Network Walkman or ATRAC3 format. Normal BLUE MS can only do MP3 format not ATRAC3 with the Network walkman. For other purpose like in digital camera...etc, MAGIC GATE is not useful at all. The MS PRO has MAGICGATE inside which is WHY it's so darn expensive in the first place and which is WHY there ain't a reader on the market to support it. There isn't any reader currently besides SONY's own that can read white MAGIC GATE MS either. And the SONY's reader is $100+ at SONY's shops, at $100+ for a reader than can only read 1 type of Memory media, that's cut throat. and it's not even USB 2.0! |

Quite out of touch liao. Since MS PRO was officially launched on April 2003. It may be possible to have 3rd party readers for MS PRO by now. If it can read MS PRO it will most likely indicate on the manual or instruction booklet of the reader. |

Saw a "Maxell" brand 7-in-1 reader on sale at the PC Show 2003.
It has a sticker on the box, stating it can read Memory Stick PRO, it is going for $55. But I did not see whether it is a USB 1.0 or USB 2.0 reader. |

Now, if only the darned memory sticks would be a BIT cheaper... then I don't have to lug around my laptop (even though it's an ultraportable) all over the place....
