Was surfing for A3xx and A7xx news and found this site, whose name is likely a play on Sony and Minolta - www.sonolta.com
Check out this article ... DIWA Labs Report Shows Sony A700 Tops Nikon D300 in Dynamic Range, Tonal Range, Color Fidelity, and Signal-to-Noise Ratio! Guess our dear A700 is giving the D300 a run for the money.

It's a pro Sony website and not a neutral entity.

Probably because Sony is the sensor manufacturer, but all the advantages on one side might be offset by other aspects, like what bro eow's mentioned. The D300 is a very impressive and capable machine.

the investment Guru had advised me again n again...the r.o.i the need to brush on my skill and the economic hardship/downturn that will soon affect all.... so i had better stay with my current A700.

i hope a700 is dust/splash proof like the d300, that would be great. live view is only good at certain scenarios but if the camera protection is better then this is what i want to upgrade for
... by the way, there is a humor that sony might comeup with a750 in photoclub alpha website. an upgrade for a700 at 14MP like a350 plus live view. it's seems sony is upgrading their line up with live view thingie plus higher pixel size. |

The person who put up this website inhabits the Sony/Minolta forums on dpreview.com. He's a dedicated user of the Sony and Minolta systems... quite knowlegeable and naturally biased towards the Sony/Minolta system for obvious reasons... I don't put much store by DXO results cos that is highly technical and does not always represent what happens in real use on a day to day basis... |
