I'm not sure if there has been many real life examples of how tough the K10D, so I decided to take it to the test with my two DA* weather sealed lenses in the dense forest of Taman Negara. My setup went through a lot with me during this particular trip, including getting splashed with water during a rapids shooting, being exposed to harsh weather, and getting a lot of use in the dusty forest environment.
Nothing phased this setup. My lenses came out absolutely fine, and the only thing affected were my filters which got fogged up because it's cheap crap. My lenses were still clear as the sky inside, with no dust, particles or any kinda wetness. My K10D was also working without a single malfunction, and just needed a simple wipe to remove any water. Pentax has gained my confidence. Their weather sealing is definitely not bullshit or marketing hype, because it works as advertised. I will definitely be bringing it for more adventurous treks in the future! Photos will be posted in this thread tonight. |

Thanks Vulpix for the testimony. We know the K10D is a very capable camera, even under some extrem weather condition.

Thanks Vulpix0r. Bought the K10D and DA*16-50 to Canadian Rockies. No problem going through the downpour and snowing conditions. The weather seal definitely works and can withstand the harsh conditions even better than me.

How do you dry your camera after putting them through all these harsh environment? Just wipe it off with a piece of cloth?

Don't really have to worry about the wetness, it dry up pretty fast. Just wipe off the droplets on the lens filter.
