Important! Camera for Underwater shooting
Anyone who owns a digital cam ( with waterproof case of course )capable of underwater shooting?
is it possible to borrow it for a few days? please reply soon?
is there any such waterproof case for FujiFilm Finepix 2800Z?

some of us indeed do dive wth our cameras, but due to the dangers of possible flooding, we do not (ok, at least *i*) do not loan out underwater equipment for this reason.
though it may sound harsh, but in case of flooding, i'd rather do it myself and heartache, rather than loaning it out, kenna flood, then can't really bear to blame who and the compensation thereafter.
you may want to look at some u/w threads:
you have an option though - you may want to use Aquapac's. please refer to
be VERY careful about how you handle the salt deposits and sand if you're off in seawater - a single drop of seawater WILL make you kiss your camera byebye. for more info, refer to http://www.canon.co.jp/Imaging/uwphoto/index-e.html

thanx for the info...
Lending cameras for u/w shoot is indeed too risky, i can understand...
How about anyone willing to borrow me the casing instead that is fitting for either Canon A30 or Fujifilm 2800Z?
It will really be very much appreciated.... thanx

if you *really really* have to, get an aquapac. i dont think any of the major underwater casing manufacturers make anything for the fuji 2800.
and by the way, a "cheap" underwater casing will cost easily 200 to 300 dollars. but that's MUCH cheaper than buying a new camera because of flooding. an aquapac is supposed safe max to 10 meters, but i wouldn't bet on it.
digideep has a pretty extensive camera/casing listing, but according to http://www.digideep.com/product.php?pType=camera&mID=12 , your camera is not listed. but i am not familiar with whether if indeed, a u/w case if available. try calling fujifilm singapore for assistance.
what are you trying to take underwater? if you're diving, you have to have a hardcase - an aquapac is definitely not safe, since it's rated for close-to-surface water depths...
seems like the aquapac is your only choice right now, as i have found out. the finepix 2800 is listed explicitly at http://www.digideep.com/imgdb/aquapac.pdf
according to the company,
Be extremely careful if you plan to shoot underwater.
Although with the clip sealed it is completely waterproof, the quick-action lever system means you could inadvertently knock a lever open underwater.
It was conceived for surface use and to protect against accidental immersion"

hi .. i think it would help fellow Clubsnappers to advise you if we know what you intend to use the camera for.
If you need a casing for A30, I have it. But I would prefer to sell it to you than loan, really, cos I have sold my A40, which uses the same casing as A30. Can sell it to you at a cheaper price la, since I am stuck with it and am broke but dont hack my head off hor ....

oh ya, for rental, i know that www.professionaldivers.com.sg rent out underwater camera for SGD50 each session but should be rentable only if you are going on a dive trip with them. and i doubt it is digital. you can still try though, if you decide to give my casing a miss.

by the way, there's this underwater/diving eqpt shop at the adelphi, 2nd level - it sells LOADS of sea&sea stuff... but i think the prices are pretty high, when you compare online prices after conversion...

mm, if ling wants a s30 casing, no point getting sea&sea. canon self manufactured is very very much cheaper. anyway, ling, have you managed to find what you need?

yawn.. just woke up... had a nightmare that my c5050z lens is covered with dust and dead insects .... so scary!!!!!!!!
hai, never mind la ^_^ anyway that thread ended on may 2002 leh, hard chance the person is still looking for a casing ba. i will still pm him anyway, thanks =)
err, no, please dont use a ziploc bag. whether it works to protect your camera or not i dunno, but your photos will definitely not be nice. the material is not meant for very good see through. you will end up taking pictures with a bit of blur blur.... how to paste pictures here ah? i just took two pictures to show you a sample. actually you can try it on your own la. really dont think it can work.

2002... hmmm, see what i mean? i'm dumb!
sigh, hope i can find those aquapac bags.....

what are you planning to shoot underwater? Where are you going?
28th May 2003, 09:56 AM
actually i'm just going to about 3 to 4 meters below the water surface to shoot someone swimming above....
just gonna hold my breathe and shoot...
think the clearest sea water in singapore shuld be sentosa,. correct me if i'm wrong.....
