IMO, the key factor is the pricing..
the f50fd pricing and its IQ vs f31fd left me wondering is it worth to get the replacement or not.. now we get a F100fd with 28mm.. definitely worth considering, provided the price is not rocket high.. ![]() |

Great! F100fd answers partially my wish list. However the picture quality, purple fringes performance and battery life are still unknown. Also, still no panoramic mode.
Without AE lock or manual exposure mode, this made shooting panorama with this camera impractical. ![]() |

But think I might wait until somebody releases a compact camera with a DX sized sensor - maybe be next year. |

If the AF is fast and accurate, ISO 12800 at reduced resolution is still very usable - a secondary camera for photojournalists! ![]() |

The FinePix F100fd will debut in March 2008 at a retail price of $379.95. Looks like a good price point |

really wonder how would the performance of "wide dynamic range", as stated in the anouncement. not sure how is the new Super CCD HR VIII compared to the lengendary Super CCD SR.
Cheers! |

Just hope it improves on the F30 in terms of ISo ability and battery life.

Just checked out the spec at Fuji Japanese site. The F100fd is rated only 230 pics per full charge tested according to CIPA standard (same as F50fd), comparing to 500 pics of the F11.

while its too early to say anything...
the f100fd uses the same battery as the f50fd (NP-50, smaller and less 'juice') while the legendary f30/f31fd uses a much bigger NP-95 battery ![]() edit the 'poor' battery life is probably due to the CCD-shift Image stabilization in this camera (and the f50fd).. Hmm.. so can the image stabilization be turned off on the F50fd? If so it might be more interesting as long battery life is quite an important feature for me since most of my travel destinations do not have electricity.
