Well, I keep all my RAW.
If I lose my jpeg, I can still re-process my RAW.
But one would need huge storage.
Just pick up more HDD during the quarterly PC shows then.

I shoot RAW in most of my wedding shots. Agreed that more time is required to process the pictures but it gives me more control over my pictures.

Do you throw your film negatives after you got the prints?

For me, I start off with JPEG but switch to RAW afterwards.

It would be better to shoot in RAW because you have much more control over the final image when you reach home and sit down with your computer. Besides, in-camera processing can only work so much before the camera has to move on to another image. A computer has so much more time and computing power to give a better output from RAW. If you shoot jpegs you'll lose valuable data that might just save your pictures at the end.

Besides, with memory so cheap nowadays, why would anybody shoot in jpegs now?

In most case digital is good enough, but to retain bit depth and most info for further mod, RAW is the only way. I still playing with film most of the time. Too lazy to do post processing.

I personally like RAW but I shoot JPEG most of the time.

    :Later,
I have a couple of settings which I will preset for all pictures of a particular type (bright sunny day, evening low light shots, etc). After that, I will go to each picture to change further. When complete, will process all the RAW to JPEG one shot.

Your RAW should be how the original scene looks like right? I only shoot RAW.

When I started with my DSLR, I shoot primarily RAW. However, lately I shoot JPEG on my weekend snaps to force myself to learn how to get the image that I want as I shoot it (and not through post-processing).

I always shoot RAW. The camera has a limited amount of time and processing power to convert the RAW image to a JPEG before storing it inside your memory card. If you shoot RAW, you can really take your time to slowly process the picture and the computer has much more power than the camera usually. Composition and proper exposure should never be put as second priority at any time, be it shooting in RAW or JPEG.
