Hi, i am not a olympus user. However want to know if any photographer using olympus DSLR to take wedding? i understand that the 4R printout from olympus is different size from the conventional 4 x 6 inch type 4R, so do you need to crop away the access in-order to fit in to the slot in type 4R album? or is there a ready made album for the 4/3 standard 4R?

For traditional print and frame sizes that have an aspect ratio of 3:2 (6×4", 9×6", 12×8") this is a disadvantage for Four Thirds cameras as photographs will have to be cropped or printed with borders to fit these sizes. The same applies if the picture is to be used for a wide-screen applications.... I just use borders to work around this problem...

U could print in Jumbo 4R Size which should suit the 4/3 System Better. And yes, some shops carry albums for it. In fact i just saw one yesterday for slot in 200 pictures.

And jumbo 4R is exactly at 4:3 aspect ratio (6" x 4.5").

Oh good! I learn something new to counter the print problem of 4/3 system (cropping). From now on I will order jumbo 4R.

The S6R, S8R, S10R & S12R sizes, different shop calls it different name... some call it 'super', some call it 'wide' etc... you should be able to see it from their samples pinned on the wall of the shop...

really wonder if any fulltimers or at least serious freelancers actually use olympus or pentax, sony etc for wedding shoot... ![]() |

For the usual AD wedding shoot you need a standard zoom, a wide angle for table shots, a flash, and a battery pack.
Canon, Nikon, Olympus, Sony, Pentax, etc have all of the above so really all systems can do the job.

I shoot a lot of events with Olympus exclusively. No problems. I know my system well enough to overcome the shortcomings, but I have to admit that in situations where I need faster recycling speeds on my flash, I end up using a Nikon SB28DX flash unit set on Auto. No problems whatsoever... and always have enough batteries at hand. I use Sanyo Enelop batteries. They keep the charge longer. That is a good thing always. Sometimes I have to shoot my subject and "tour" with them. (No details, so don't ask).

S6R.
But if for wedding going to print a few hundred photos, then cannot be all S6R isn't it? I blew up to S12R a few pcs of family portraits during wedding for someone... then got S12 frame... it is very nice & uncropped. I love it. |

however, the most cost efficient print size is still 4R (4"x6"), 3R is no longer popular, and many labs is charging same price as 4R, so nobody will order any 3R photos except foreigner. DSC-4R is cost slightly more than 4R, altho maybe only 10~15cent more, but if you talking about 300 over prints, it is still a considerable amount, if you are not charing customers for the different, it will increase your material cost, beside, wedding couple may want to buy additional print to give to friends and relative too, if given a DSC-4R photo to others, may incur more cost to wedding couple and the receiver need to get a special album to keep it. It is not convenient at all. If you plan to crop 3:4 into 2:3, you are giving yourself extra work, imagine you have to re crop a few hundred photos for each wedding, might as well just get any 2:3 camera. anyway, I know some wedding photographers using 3:4 cameras to shoot weddings, they mainly go for coffee table album, so it is not an issue in this area. |

Who in the right mind will ask the photo lab to crop? You are talking about professional photographers printing photos, wedding photos.

sure, you can ask they to crop for you,
so, you want they crop off part of the head or legs, or both? |
