If only the competitors' dust buster is as effective as Olympus...

Yes, but why didn't you post a comment? It is the Newbies corner, so information should be given. It is not the competitors sub forum.
Don't worry, I commented. ![]()

FourThird format offer the advantage of lighter and smaller telephoto lenses. Olympus' marketing content love to compare long telephoto lenses with 135mm equivalent FOV lenses but avoids the fact that their short lenses are bulky and heavy.

If the 14-42mm and new 40-150mm are bulky and heavy, then what is the E-3?
How light you want it to be? If it's too light, you'll never be able to hold things stably. At first, when I had the 14-45mm, I considered the old 40-150mm heavy. Now I have the 14-54mm, the 40-150mm is real light. Depends on your definition of heavy and bulky. Considering that the ZD lenses need to resolve more details because of the 4/3 sensor, they are of reasonable weight.

After my Lijiang-Dali trip, I have found that the olympus E330 with 70mm-300mm len gives fantastic tele-photo during the world reknown show "Yin Xiang Li Jiang". The effect is really WoW
![]() But the 14-45mm kit len is only good when sufficient lighting is available, but it is still comparable to the Nikon D80 (which is significantly heavier than E330). I would consider that my E330 with a good cheap solution for a new DSLR user like me. It only costed me around (>800) after I sold off my good old Fuji S9600. |

Some here may not like what I've said there, but it's the honest truth and how I feel about one of the replies stated in that thread.
Funny thing about the above link (and it took me a while before I figured out the problem)...when I went there I actually had to log in and allow scripts there before it would let me comment, which I found odd because I post messages here all the time. Then when I went back to the message it wouldn't allow me to edit it. I then realized that normally I view the messages at: http://forums.clubsnap.org/ and the above link is at: http://forum.clubsnap.org/ (notice it's forum instead of forumS) Which one should I be using...do they know that there is two ways to access the same data? I admit I skip the homepage and come directly to this forum since that's all I care about here...I do the same for other sites including DPReview and Steve's Digicams...I don't care about Canikon news or news about the site itself. |

I cover indoor events and got a little excited about the 14-35/2.0 until I started thinking about the weight of Oly glasses v the competition. Lugging around a bag of HG and SHG lenses and FL-50 flash units all day is no longer funny with age. |

Some of the Big 2 users think that the dust buster is a gimmick... They don't know what they are missing.

As Kirika mentioned, threads like these do have a way to degenerate into a size discussion.
It's ok to puff out your chest, do a Tarzan, that sort of thing. It's not ok to start slinging mud. Just a gentle reminder... ![]()

I am happy to use my Oly camera. The rest of the world think otherwise. That is their freedom to choose whatever system that they want to use. You cannot change them. Red pill or the blue pill...

I think some people misunderstood my posts. That's all. I really think people must be careful when changing lens. That can never hurt, not even if one uses Olympus. If you don't believe me, just have a look at my images below. The red circles mark dirt on the CCD.
![]() ![]() ![]() Of course, this can only be seen at f/22 and at very high magnification. Here, the largest is about 16:1 magnification, the smalles is ~5:1. Some of you may say it is not disturbing, hardly noticable at all. Yes, that is true at this size, but a 100% crop shows something else. ![]() So, my camera is getting a good wet clean as soon as possible because I can not use it for large magnification any more. But, the cleaning will be done by Olympus, not by me. And, considering I have taken about 20k images and had the camera for almost two years, changed lens several thousand times I am still happy. Also, this problem would not be noticable at all if I was not using the camera for such high magnifictions. Normally, people are happy if they take a close up image, they scream "wow, macro" and if I would be happy with that, I would not see it, but to me it is more important that the CCD is clean than for the general user.
