Hi, I took these 2 pictures of a yummy steak.
I noticed the blue/ purple colours on the left side of the steak. Does anyone know what causes it? Is this chromatic aberration and inherent in the Tamron 17-50mm F2.8 lens? Lighting Condition: Dim. Lots of sizzling smoke from the plate. Could it be a factor? Thanks ![]() Shot with NIKON D80 at 2008-01-14 ![]() Shot with NIKON D80 at 2008-01-14 Last edited by sentinel_006; 14th January 2008 at 11:46 PM. |

That doesn't look like CA to me. Are you sure you didn't get too close to the sizzling steak and get some steak juice on your lens?

It's not CA. If the CA is that obvious at this size, I'll sell the lens right away!
It looks more like reflections of some distant blue light in the restaurant. I think the CA colour is more purple than solid blue. You can easily do a test shot to see the CA -- shoot some trees at f2.8 against a bright white background (clouds, for eg), or reflections of bright sunlight off a pond or lake. |

It's definitely not CA. As Viewpoint mentioned, it's very likely to be reflections of some blue/violet light.

Definitely not CA..CA usually appears around the edges of subject..might be reflection as what Viewpoint & Adiemus have mentioned..or maybe its the flame from the grill..yum yum![]()

Hi all,
Thanks. It's comforting to know it's not CA. ![]() |
