Wow! It came earlier than expected. Wonder if it means the S602 will also hit the shelves of camera shops on 31st May.
Any guess on how much it'll costs at places like CP? ![]() |

Hhmmm...
If the $1499 is the price set by Fuji, then I think that CP, AP and likewise can get it at a cheaper rate... Maybe 1350-1400? Hmm... ANyway BUY BUY BUY |

hopefully, price will be around $1300 or less.... more in line with the discounts for the other Fujifilm's new offering, F601Z

Just went to see it at the road show. Very nice finish and not to heavy. Told will be available in the shops on 31st May. Think will wait till then to get it.
But have a minor concern. Now they are bundling a leather case for it as a promotion. Where to get the leather case if I get the DC somewhere else without the promo? |

i think if the cam is a 4MP/5Mp with this kind of price, it will be an excellent "must buy" |

well, it's my first time handling a SLR-type digicam.. quite an experience!
i tot it was a manual zoom by turning the ring, turns out it's just focus.. the zoom is still by W/T.. which well.. i hope could be faster. the buttons were simple.. only 3 buttons at the side and 2 dials at the top, at one glance the functions are very clear.. should easy to use, even as a point and shoot. one thing i like is the menu system.. unlike some which seems like a command line type interface.. and you select too many deep down you're totally lost.. this fuji's menu is very neat and usable.. one glance, once you're in the menu selection, the each option is already customizable.. just have to press up down to change option .. left right to change to next type of command.. saves on alot alot of clicks ! i tot the camera was a little longish after powering on, coz the internal lens extends .. the start up time is hell slow.. at least 6-8 secs after the lens is extended... i find it also a little wide at the side too.. my long fingers and big hands can barely grasp it ! i really dunno about the rest as this is my first handling.. they say the image capturing is fast.. to me.. ok only lah.. took a couple of 6M pix, about 1-3 secs to store.. fast meh ? the 6x optical zoom.. okie only lah.. but imaging.. if i ge the G2, only 3x.. wah lao.. i like the white balance feature.. on changing setting, the picture in the LCD is automatically updated, no pauses for half a sec or anything like that.. the girls there.. yar right.. tried to be really helpful, but i had them running to and fro their supervisor a few times.. asked them: >whats the battery life ? >what media to use ? ("oh Smartmedia and C/F") >really? then if i put both inside, will it register a combined storage ? (er.. runs to sup) >ok.. then if i put both inside.. then do i have a option to switch between media within the camera ? (er.. runs to sup) er.. tip to all those helpful sales ppl.. pls.. if you're really those who knows as much as the brochure you're giving out, then save us the trouble and let us read instead.. My good experience is often with nice ppl who really know what they are selling ! i had so much fun watching them running to and fro... and they gave me 2 salespersons to answer my questions.. the 1st one gave up on me liao.. the 2nd one.. best.. tried to smoke so much ! |

The startup time is so slow? According to DPreview, it takes only 4.3 secs to startup (from Off to Record). Yes, for a 6MP Fine, it takes 3.4 - 3.9 secs to store (depends on the type of media used). But dat is for storing a single pic only. During this period of waiting, you can actually carry on shooting. The buffering takes care of this. Again, found this in DPreview. Hope this helps. ![]() |

Below is what i grabbed from dpreview: "This is the amount of time it takes to write a single image away. It does not affect your ability to take another shot, the image is buffered and written to the storage card 'in the background'. However, during this time you do not have access to certain camera settings or menus (although you can still zoom, focus and shoot)." |

hmm... my last camera was a 9 yr old film camera, so you imagine my (in)experience with this.
I did notice this, although i didn't know such a buffer-storing feature was available. After you snap a picture, the screen grays (not black) out for the said time and the image shown is freezed. so i never thought of snapping immediately during this short pause. perhaps someone else who went down could verify this ? i thought this is the norm for all digicams ? |
