http://www.engadget.com/2005/02/28/t...mera-connector According to those two sites, the iPod can be connected to a digital camera via a special US$30 connector. However, I am uncertain whether dSLRs are on the list of compatible devices. Has anyone tried and/or succeeded in uploading photos to the iPod on the field? It would be a nifty thing to not have to purchase a separate large volume picture storage. |

Perhaps it's only for cameras with a mini-USB jack...
Basically a device which allows the transfer of files to the iPod by having devices as a "thumbdrive" so to speak.

By the time you're done transferring photos with either device, the iPod and your camera would have run out of battery. Great idea from when flash memory cards were still pricey but they're too slow to be practical.

Exactly. That is why they developed things like the Epson Px000 portable drives.

Yes, but I already have an iPod, you see. It's just that I'm trying to figure if I can use it as a portable drive in a pinch. nice to have, but I'd rather save the portable drive funds for the new super wide lens when it does come out =p

Belkin made a couple of adapters for an iPod and Apple also created an adapter about 4 years ago for the iPod photo.
They didn't exactly give great results, mostly because of the battery drain, and it would be worse today because of the expanded file sizes. |

Well yes. That's precisely the brand of device featured in one of the two articles I provided. Just wondering whether a faster gadget has appeared since then. I believe the iPod has a decent transfer rate, but needs a device that can maximize its potential.

I often took my iPod with me to listen and I would connect it to my PowerBook and back up my photos to the iPod. I thought about the intermediate gadgets when the iPod photo debuted, but the reviews discouraged me and I'd already bought my iPod before those capabilities were available.
Better to just buy a generic device that accepts flash memory cards. |

I tried the ipod camera adaptor with an ipod video and E3. It doesn't work. It never really worked anyway.

I think this is meant more for PnS, who only have like 512 mb cards..
If you want, bring your ipod and camera to ishop or epicenter and ask if you can try. |
