Hi guys,
I'm thinking of getting a 12-24mm f/4 lens. Still undecided as to buy the nikon12-24mm f4 DX lens or just get the tokina 12-24mm f4. Of course the main factors is the price different between these 2 lenses. Other than the $$$ factors, what's the push factors to get the nikon lens. ![]() ![]() ![]() Your opinion is very much appreciated. ![]() ![]() BTW : I'm using a D200 with a 50mm 1.8 lens. |

In that case no issue liao, Nikon 12-24 it will be.
![]() Btw, KRW has a very comprehensive comparison between the Nikon and the 3rd party lenses. You might want to take a look. |

If money is not the problem, then the Nikon 14-24 f2.8 is the only lens you have to get. No wide lens beat this one in terms of quality. You can use it even when you go full frame.
Money is a big problem to me and I'm using a 2nd hand 10-20 Sigma. Enjoy. |

I would wish that all my lenses were Nikkor lenses... but of course... $$$ is a factor in deciding what lens to buy. If $$$ is not a problem... go for all Nikkor lenses... I personally feel they are the best!
But like many of us... $$$ is a consideration... so for me... I decided to get the Tokina 12-24 f/4, and it is a great lens! I have not used the Nikkor 12-24 f/4, so I cannot compare, but from what I have in the Tokina, I have no regrets buying it. ![]() |

Hi Bros,
Is not that $$$ is not a concern for me, just that I'd saved enough to get this lens la..... Not sure what type of improvement over tokina with extra $$$ that I'm paying if I were to buy the nikon lens. That's why need some "assurance" from you guys opinion....He He He.... regards |

I was also afraid to go 3rd party to start with, and a friend of mine kept saying to go for the Nikon lenses... and they are the best... but not with the pocket ![]() So... after much reading up on reviews and looking at test shots that others have done... my very 1st 3rd party lens is the Tokina 12-24 f/4. I wouldn't just buy any 3rd party lens... just the ones which have been given great reviews... so today, I own one Tokina and one Tamron (the 17-50 f/2.8). Here are some reviews and shots from the Tokina 12-24 that you can read up on... No budget problem, of course go for Nikon than Tokina.
![]() Unless you are going into FF very soon, you may not want to invest the money into DX lenses, then you may want to consider Tokina. |
