Hi kind ppl.
Im considering an upgrade form my d40. Its either the D70s or D80. I hv heard abt the D80 being overexposed and being very noisy on high iso. And that D70s is still on 6.1 mp, similar to D40. What do you guys reckon? Keep the 6.1mp and go for the D70s which I am more incline to considering its cheaper price. Do advise. Thanks in advance. ![]() |

Just go straight to D300...
no point to get older bodies with little feature upgrades. |

then i believe D80 is your choice... second hand px is around there.....
if you can wait i believe in feb a replacement would be out replacing it and therefore push the px down further... meanwhile perhaps you should look into investing in more lens but i do believe for a D40 there are plenty of limitations... |

Thanks mate.
The main reason is that I need to be able to autofocus on non-afs lenses which the d40 dont allow. Plus I take alot of events at which I shall need higher iso. Heavier body is not really a problem and I think higher mp is not a need for me at the moment. |

u trying to further poison him??.. :P
for $500-$600 more to get 2 more fps, i would suggest him spending that extra cash on better lenses... :P... kenwell website has a very good comparision between these 2 cams.... there is'nt much difference between the 2 cams... importantly they are using the same sensor and thus produces same same image quality... D200 is build like a tank though and trains your biceps at the same time as well... :P |

haha yea..
I "played" with a friend's d200 before and it seriously is heavy! But yea, I've toyed with the idea of getting a d200 too but then I rather invest those extra dollars on other lenses eh. Btw if i decide to sell my d40 what would the right price be? Considering it to be 9 according to CS requirements and shutter count of 5k-ish (how to really check the exact shutter count eh?) (sorry if this is out of thread topic) Last edited by hafix; 9th January 2008 at 09:21 PM. |

Either get a new D70s or a 2nd hand D80 is you're on tight budget. Owned the D80 before and had a friend which owned the D70s, there ain't too much difference with picture quality but you'll like the bigger LCD of the D80 more I guess.
