Default Anyone knows procedure for getting a medical review for NSmen?

I checked the NS website but nothing is said about it. Suppose I wish to have my PES status reviewed, what is the procedure?

Thanks to anyone with experience or info.

get a medical certificate explaining your medical condition from your doctor, call your unit, explain the situation, get a fax number, fax medical certificate to your unit... wait for response... if no response call unit again... that's what I did...

If u want ur PES reviewed, most important is to have ur doctor's letter, and if possible get a specialist letter from a government hospital.

Now, the next thing u do is to call up ur unit, call up the G1, S1 department and speak to the NSF / DXO or whoever is in charge of u. Tell them ur condition and ask them to schedule u down for a medical review.

Of course, as always, most likely they will forget u, so if no response in 2 weeks, call them again and again and again every 2 weeks. They are able to schedule u to see the mo every week if they want to.

so when u come down to see the mo, of course show ur letter and explain ur condition etc.

Afterwards, if he really think ur PES needs to be reviewed, he will schedule u for a medical board. there are 2 kinds of medical board - medical board in presence(MBIP) and medical board in absence(MBIA). U can choose the kind u want, but most likely they will choose MBIA so u dun need to come down again.

Wats a medical board? a medical board is just 3 mo sitting down there and review ur condition. From there on they will review ur pes status on the spot.

From the time u see the mo the first time to the time for a medical board takes quite some time. Normally there are medical boards every 2 weeks, sometimes once a month, so it will take some time.

most important is when u see the mo for the first time, go and get the telephone number of the medical center, so that u can chase them for ur medical board every 2 weeks or once a montn.

Oh BTW, when u get official status of your PES downgrade...

REMEMBER TO OBTAIN A COPY OF THE PERMANENT PES DOWNGRADE LETTER FROM THE MO!

I remembered not getting it after the supposed Medical Board that was going to review my knee problem in both of my knees. Called them up to see the MO and took half a day leave to get that precious piece of paper.

Y does it sound so complicated le. Macam like u people join e army in e last generation le.

Niwae fm wat i remember for my medical review is .. simple ... wen u'r call for IPPT, inform them tat u'r excuse with a proper doc's excuse letter.

Fax tis info to ur unit and they will ararnge for u to c e MO. Shdnt take very long cuz every yr there's e IPPT cycle. Once u see e MO, they will ask e necessary qs n u show excuse letter n x-ray and wat's not. Show EVERYTHING.

They will then arrange for e medical board review where they will ask u if u wanna attend or just b posted of the result of e medical board. Normally tis medical board review date is given in e letter. I dont remember even having to chase e MO or medical centre for tis le.

If ur case is genuine, no worries la u dont even need to attend.

Y u need to obtain a copy i'm not sure cuz in e end they will snail mail u a letter telling u if ur request to downgrade is successful or not. E MO dont give e downgrade letter as far as i know, it's e medical board tat decides tat.

The procedure is not complicated and should not take too long. The issue is people based, if your unit the people handling things are on the ball, than in a few weeks everything done. If they bo-chap or blur or both, than can drag for months and months.

So it depends on your luck.

    that is correct

the procedures with regards to all admin matters are actually quite simple, it's just people that complicate the issue for whatever reasons.

Actually for minor cases, they normally do a medical board in absence meaning that you dont need to be there at all...they will just sent you a letter to inform you of the result. It is also quite difficult to get permanant downgrade for minor stuff nowadays. For my knee issues, I have been temp downgrade since 1999. Every year need to renew.

The procedure is simple. Just that the people running it are hopeless. Just go through your unit's NSHRC and get them to push for it.
