Thread: Recommendation for LCD screen

    Default Recommendation for LCD screen

    Hi,

I would like to purchase a 22inch or 24inch for photo editing.

Any recommendations for true 8bit panels?

    About 800

I understand that there are IPS, PVA, MVA, TN panels.

EIZO screens are good but expensive.

    Looking for an alternative.

    Hi Guys,

May I know what LCD screens you are using?

    Brand? Model? Screen Size?

The closest alternative to Eizo ColorEdge CG series is NEC Spectraview.

Spectraview 2090UXi or 2690UXi. I have two sets of the 20", each costs about $1,250. My studio uses three sets of the 26", each costs $2,650.

Advantage: Its internal 12-bit LUT table can be reprogrammed during calibration to get the exact colours, bringing Delta-E below 0.3. The other monitor able to do this is the Eizo ColorEdge CG series which can cost 3 to 5 times more.

Local distributor for NEC display is AceCom. Ask for Miss Chua.

Well, if you can, wait till Macworld Expo (13/14 Jan) - as it is rumored that Apple will be releasing a new line of OLED Apple Cinema Displays at lower prices then now.

The products should be rather decent, given that it's an Cinema Display..

really? Sony (who actually has production facilities) has trouble producing affordable OLED screens at 11" size and Apple has found someone to produce OLED Cinema Displays?... or are they LED lit displays (as opposed to the usual fluorescent lit ones)?

for about $800, I would normally recommend the Dell 24" Ultrasharp 2407 display but at the moment they have been withdrawn... most likely they will be introducing a new version soonish...

Check this url fer the panel of the model that u r going to get.

    http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/panelsearch.htm

Skip the TN panel fer photo editing, best is to stick to IPS.
From wat i know, 22inchers are mostly TN panels.
Common S-IPS panels in ur range are AppleCD 20in, 23in, Dell 2007WFP.
The new dell 2408 are cuming out end of next month according to sources.
Whether it's IPS or PVA panel i do not know.
U might wanna wait and save up more in the meantime.

    My 2 cents...

Oops, I meant to say LED instead of OLED, my bad.

Anyway, there's no model refresh during Macworld, so the existing Cinema Displays are as of now. Dell's LCDs are also viable and affordable alternatives too.

any view on Philips LCD monitors

seems quite good but really no one has a proper showroom to test LCD.
    All are geared towards gamers

Even Samsung showroom dont have the t series monitors
REally dumb , showing the same models as SimLim shops

    sigh

They've got some high end T-series models there.

    True 8-bit panels.

    I think they've got one S-PVA LCD selling at around S$1400++ - it's a 24" I think...

Looks really really good but pricy.

I'm also in the market for a good, accurate monitor...

Thinking of the Samsung 266CW cos it's got a wide color gatmut - wat you guys think?

The 266CW goes for around S$515.00
Happiness is a state of mind.
