#1 fisheye or wide angle lens. 12~24/14~24/10.5mm etc
#2, you can increase the ISO. What camera mode you are using? ie P/S/A/M #3, fireworks you need wide angle lens and a black card/cable release/good ballhead/tripod. ![]() #4, what you want to achiever? ie candid photog in low light? HTH ![]()

what you are looking for is a fast lens as in f2.8 or faster
fast focusing - AFS using a higher ISO speed will also let you use your kit lens with a faster shutter speed. btw fast lens need fast money

A 50mm f/1.8 would fit your bill. Smalland light enough for quick response and bright enough for low light shooting. Not to mention it's dirt cheap compared to other Nikon lenses!

To TS,
Maybe u want to show us some of your work. It may not be a lack of performance of the kit lens |

using a fast lens or prime lens is not everything you need, you also need a steady hands.
for candid shots, a zoom lens will be a better option, and also for indoor low light situation, sometime using flash is far better, what is point of have tons of photos, almost of them is out of focus, off color, motion blur and hand shake?? if I were you, would rather spend the money on a flash, and make full use of the current kit lens, buy a better lens will only give you marginally improvement at this moment. |

FYI, the tamron 17-50 f2.8 fits your budget of $600 if you get it from Orient Photos at simlim. I went last month and asked for the price, they quoted me $600.
