Default Sigma DP-1

Anyone going to get it when it is released?

And when ARE they going to release it? Seems like forever since Sigma announced it!

Sigma DP-1 is synonymous with vapourware.

Sigma sent out a development update on the DP-1 at the end of Nov 2007 - basically apologising for the delay, the reason being, they decided to redesign the whole image processing pipeline, and as such the specs would change - they began alpha testing of this new design in Nov.

i loved the shape of the DP-1. But i just don't understand one point; it's suppose to be a fixed 28mm (35mm equivalent) lens, but how come it have the "wide" and "tele" buttons at its behind? So, is it suppose to offer zoom?

perhaps it's for you to enlarge your photos during playback? or some digital zoom function which i think shouldn't be in a camera of this calibre.

Just checked out the samples images gallery at [link] and I must say this camera looks pretty interesting! The image quality is the best so far from a compact camera. (Foveon rocks!) Any idea how much it will retail for?

Can't wait for it too!

Is it just me or does the colours look weird on the Sigma DP1 in dpreview's DP1 gallery? Particularly the foliage, the greens looks kinda of weird

Finally a compact in recent memory that makes sense i.e. no ridiculous ISO, no stupid cramming of pixels.

Now all we need is decent operation speed and Sigma should have a winner here!

.
Not just you... the foveon sensor while having some +ves, one of the -ves is that it is notoriously noisy (especially at higher ISO), and this is due to the physics of how the sensor works.

Dear XXXX

The DP1 expected to arrive sometime in March. You can obtain from our
authorized dealers eg Alan Photo and Song Brothers (both in Sim Lim Square),
Cathay Photo and Parisilk Store, Holland Village.
