Has anybody tried using the Sandisk Extreme Ducati CF card on the S5Pro? Any improvement in writing speed as compared to the Extreme 3? The 4 gig Ducati version is selling at around $175.00.

Yes, the Ducati version is slightly faster when reading and write RAF files, otherwise not much difference. |

Agreed - not much a difference. Anyway.. you should be concentrating on shooting the next shot and not looking at how long the "busy" light is blinking. !

The 4 GB Lexar Pro 300X, which I understand is about the same speed as Extreme IV Ducati, goes for $130 at Alan Photo, undercutting the price of the Sandisk.

Very good price. But in terms of write speed, the Ducati may still be faster, especially if you shoot raw+fine on the S5 pro.

the card may be super fast but the write speed n file size of S5Pro n its RAW files simply made everything else slow.

The write speed of the S5 Pro is actually not slow, in comparison to my D80 when shooting Jpeg fine (5mb on S5 pro vs 3-4mb on D80). But the RAF file size of 24.4mb is way bigger that the D80's 8-9 mb NEF.

Lexar Pro 300X cards are way too expensive and not much faster than Extreme IV. Furthermore, Lexar's reliability is still unknown. Older Lexar cards prone to fail. Last edited by photobum; 14th January 2008 at 04:36 PM. |

Anyway, I compare the speed of both the Extreme III and IV. The latter is only marginally faster. Do you think this slight improvement is worth $50 more? I use the Extreme III on my S5 Pro without missing any shots so far. ![]() Last edited by photobum; 14th January 2008 at 05:56 PM. |

![]() Then again CF cards are going cheap. Just buy and satisfy self ba. I'm still using 2Gb and 1Gb cards, happily and they are serving me well for my work. Btw, (OT-on) Cheesecake.... you turning into a Claymore? (OT-off) |

need to get the remote shutter also .. sian.. really not cheap from what I see ![]() but at least as a consolation I'm extremely pleased with some casual snapshot test I do around home. Totally no complaint from the image coming from the raw 400%DR in terms of highlight recovery

But RAW is good for those hardcore comparisons one. Esp if you wanna look at the DR differences, that's where it is most obvious. (disclaimer : it depends on what you shoot to compare with!) OT - you awakening yeah? .... I prefer Galatea ![]() |

The remote cord costs $80 for an original Nikon and $25 for an OEM one. The Nikon remote cord fits and operates better.

Thanks photobum once again
...will be dropping by to get the remote cord(nikon one, heard the OEM not very reliable/spoil easily), and the 4 gig sandisk ex.III then can't wait to bring it out for some real shooting haha

FYI, the 4 GB Lexar Pro 300X now costs $130 while the 4 GB Extreme IV still costs $150 and the Extreme Ducati $175. These were the prices quoted to me last week by Alan Photo.
