Default IF...Sensor is damage.

May I know if your sensor is damage due to extremely long night exposures, will Nikon replace it for you free if the camera is still under warranty.

Thanks

Is yours damaged?
Why don't you just call NSC and ask?

Unlikely to be damaged by extremely long exposures. If you did that within the maximum Bulb exposure timing, it should be covered by warranty because the camera allows that. It's not as if you have to hack something to achieve the long exposure.

How would the sensor be damaged during long exposures, when it does not come into contact with any foreign objects?

Well... just don't be silly and point it at the sun and try a long exposure without filters, small aperture, low ISO...

Last time saw some posting saying that ultra long exposure will burn the sensor...

An ultra long exposure that results in an ultra over exposed photo (we're not talking a few stops here. hundreds of stops maybe) might cause unnecessary heating up of the sensor if that is what you mean.

Will an overblown image from an overheated sensor blow up my computer screen?

Think I read somewhere about someone who tried to perform an ultra-long exposure test on the D2H, using external battery adaptor as well.

He noted that the timer counter is (can't remember) 10 bits or something, and hence the long exposure timing can't exceed 65536 secs, or something like that.

Whenever I need a pure white background, I will use flash to overblow it a couple of stops. It just reads 255,255,255 on my screen.. I can't seem to get anything higher than that.. so unfortunately my screen could not be blown..
