Default after 100,000 shutter count

how to know if my 300d is dying?

i don't remember how many shuttle count it have taken over the years. I just know that it can last about 100,000 counts.

anyone knows how to detect early signs?
can it be repaired?
how much?

Shuttle (pronounced "shut tLL") = move back and forth as in badminton shuttle or shuttle bus service

Shutter (pronounced "Shut TER")= the device in a camera that opens and close to expose film or sensor.

AFAIK, Canon cameras have no shuttle, just a shutter, which towards the EOL tends to give intermittent problems like sticking or inconsistent exposure or incomplete exposure (due to blades getting stuck). That is what happened to 2 of my EOS film cameras. My DSLRs so far no failures.

You can get your shutter replaced by Canon Service Centre in funan. Should be a few hundred dollars and 10 working days if I'm not wrong.

It's only a matter of time before the shutter gives way. This is the effect of 'wear-and-tear'. You can't escape physics.

Really? Is your EOS 850 very new? I'd suspect it was because it's an older camera that has been through more shutter actuations than your other SLRs.

not as bad as my eos 630. the shutter itself is fine, but the rubber/foam lining in the mirror box melted and jammed the shutter...happened twice in the 17 years

Actually, all camera's shutter will spoilt one day. During my schooling time, a friend's Nikon FM2's shutter burst after he tried a few shots of high speed shooting with his motor drive (its was rated like 3.2 frames per second if I did not remember wrongly), and his FM2 was a lightly used and new camera as he got another F2 and F3 as his regular cameras.

No signs b4 the shutter is dying. It will act normal until it happen. If u are worry and doing an important shoot better rent a spare cam or change the shutter. Mine just happen without warning.
