Default 50mm F1L

Tim Chueng in HK Tsim Sha Tsui has a 50mm f1 lens for sale at HK$36,000 about SIN$6880 if anyone is interested. I have never seen or hold this lens before in Singapore so I think its quite a interesting lens for me. I held in in my hands a few hours ago.

Sorry to hijack a bit, while you are in HK, can I ask if you saw any 1DsIII in stock? If so, what is the street price?

Back to topic... I have played with my friend's 50F1 and it was quite a sight to behold. If anyone is interested, I can ask if he's interested in selling.

I own one of this lens, unique bokeh ,
very hard to used due to the shallow depth of field........... but fun !!
This lens is not "sharp" at F1.0, very low contrast and flare...... but this is the
characteristic of this lens......

!!

Fwah. Huge sample pics, but finally we get to see actual images from the lens, rather than just talk.

Hi Ah drew, they 'sealed' the lens with clear plastic wrapping so only buyers or would be buyers may try, I dun think I have so much spare change after buying gear in HK and while the 1Dsmk3 is on sale, the first batch has been sold out, I did not ask for the prices.

Default 1Ds3 in Hong Kong

My friends in Hong Kong tell me that the 1Ds3 was released to the general public on 22 Dec at an official price of HK$56,200. CPS members and connected insiders got a special deal with a Pixma Pro 9500 thrown in.

The very limited numbers (1 or 2 pieces for the bigger dealers) in the first batch sold out immediately, and the next shipment to dealers is scheduled for the 4rd week of Jan. Apparently, most of these have already been spoken for as well. Unless you are willing to pay a premium, you are unlikely to nab one of these before Chinese New Year.

If everything goes according to plan, I should be getting mine before the end of next week.

That's a great deal for "insiders", but guess such deals not available to us unless we've got some connections to the right people there. Oh well.. Thanks a lot for the info tho.

The Pro 9500 printer that Canon HK throws in isn't that great a printer unless you are printing B&W and matt art paper. So it is not that great a deal for those who got the CPS launch special. This is about the only way Canon can get rid of these printers, literally by giving them away!

Can shoot side by side comparisons with other f1 to f1.2 lenses?

However I presume that shooting at F1.4 will result in super sharp subject...

With or without the printer, the HK$56,200 price tag alone is already makes it a great deal. Ok, apologies for going OT.

Back to the 50f1, any idea what's a decent price for a good condition 50f1 in SG?
