Talking Don't waste your time with KFC

KFC is terrible, and I have not eaten anything yet! Yes, this is exactly what I experienced within a week.

I had a terrible urge to eat some KFC chicken after avoiding unhealthy cholesterol laden food for a month to eat something unhealthy. :

Went to Suntec KFC in the evening at about 7pm last Thursday. Ordered a 3 piece chicken meal. The guy who served me told me that they only had drumsticks and wings for both original and crispy recipes. I thought to myself, Wow, KFC now serves chicken like Carona chicken, so I told the guy politely that I wasn't interested anymore.

Just called KFC for a home delivery, I almost never do this. The lady on the line asked my for my phone number, my postal code, my unit number and finally my name. After a pause, she mentioned that she could not deliver to my place. I live in a HDB estate, not some ulu place in Singapore. I then asked her why and she mentioned it was due to the high number of orders. I then asked her why she asked about my particulars if it was simply a case of too many orders to handle, or if they were selectively choosing where they wanted to deliver to. The lady told me that the system prompted her not to take my order, probably due to the location where I stay. I replied, telling her that it's a terrible way to select customers, and she said something along the lines of "we're like this". They were almost telling me that they do not treasure their customers, and that they will select their customers.

The next time you eat KFC, think again. If it isn't the oil and unhealthy way the chicken is cooked, it's the miserable size of the chicken. For those people like me who were able to look beyond these shortcomings, they will now tell you that they don't have the right type of chicken for you to eat or that they don't even want to sell you any.

I hope KFC dies off like how A&W did.

P.S At least KFC wasn't asking me to eat chicken "backsides", now.

If you called MacDonald home delivery, maybe you could win $10,000 and have a fast food meal too.

More like a case of bad CRM.

They installed a system to help them plan their deliveries, make sure they're not overloaded.

Yet once the system (after calculating, based on no of orders and their locations) realised they couldn't deliver any more timely orders, the staff simply told you they didn't want to take your order.

Leaving you to think that it's your address (or type of dwelling) rather than some OR algorithm which was run to ensure that they could deliver outstanding orders within reasonable time.

Stupid, isn't it? Spending so much $$ on a sophisticated system, but not the $$$ in training the staff to engage the customers properly.

    1. Why can't you accept the drumstick & wing? Probably they really run out of other parts the moment you order, you cannot expect the poor chap who earns $3.5 per hour to find u a thigh or a rib out of blue. KFC system is just like any other fast food, first come first serve. Did you ask if you could wait for their next fried to be ready? I myself encountered Mcdonald to run out of french fries or McSpicy and I have no problem waiting for another few more minutes for the next batch to ready.

    2. For phone ordering, it's true that some delivery service only cover certain radius of their nearby outlet, it make sense otherwise people might again complaint the delivery lead time or cold meal by the time the items arrived. You don't expect the operator to know Singapore address like a taxi driver, they are just ordinary people who key in the computer system with item 1 to item 10.....she was just telling you the truth what the system shown after she clicks the submit button. Maybe you can try calling Pizza hut or Mcdonald to benchmark if it's true that your neighbouhood is really that ulu

    3. In the festive season mood, you should be more forgiven and share your love with the poor under strength service line peoples who could be slotted with long back logs and never ending delivery orders.

Meanwhile, this one FOC for your stop gap measure

Wah, kam sia man, this looks like the chicken I was trying to eat last week and order just now.

    1. Nothing wrong with drumsticks and wings, but it's a fact that there are certain parts that are considered to be less meat than others. The drumstick and wing combo is almost to the point of short changing you. I know this cause I used to work for KFC. I was told that I would have to wait for another half hour for the next batch of chicken to be cooked.

    2. I stay at Kembangan lah, nearest KFC outlets are at Bedok and Siglap, definitely not far. BTW, I have been ordering Canadian Pizza and Macdonalds, so far no problems. Whatever the case is, if KFC decides that there are places in Singapore like mine, which is a HDB estate, that they do not service during peak periods, they are as good as saying that they are selecting their customers. I did not have problems with KFC home delivery in the past with where I am staying.

    3. I am not saying that I do not like the people, but the system and policy that KFC is adopting is definitely a case of choosing customers. If this is the case with KFC, then they will not stop and will probably choose the type of service that they are willing to provide, It's not a wonder why KFC is in such a bad state as compared to the good old days when KFC dining was a really superb experience, waiters and ordering from the table.

BTW, I would normally tell them not to waste their time working for a company where they will eventually regret, just like the people at the awful Nokia Service Centre. The problem is with the people managing the place, not the people.

?? aiyo, cannot deliver means cannot deliver what. What you want them to do?

sometimes, I think some unforseen circumstances can crop up. Rain big big or Like the outlet near your place could be seriously understaff that day or maybe the delivery staff had an accident or whatever....

I had that experience b4 with KFC I think once, but that time I think they just could not cope with the orders.... no big deal, order Mac lor.

the staff on the telephone line might just be tactless somehow, but it's a holiday, orders run high in numbers, i'm sure they don't want to promise something and not being able to deliver. who knows, they might be facing a manpower shortage? you wouldn't want the delivery boy to risk his life speeding down roads just to deliver some chicken right? i'm sure there're nice food in your nearby hawker center also

jus had it like last month at pasir ris.

forgot the actual price but i clearly remember telling myself n my frens, "1st n last time.", due to the price being highly comparative to KFC's pricing(take for instance the 2 pc meal).

besides the fried chicken by arnold is so much like Do&Me's(ur frenly neighbourhood shops) that personally, i think they are nothing special n definitely not worth the time n $$ spent hunting down their stall after reading suggestions from other CSers(yes, i love my fried chickens or rather, my food, thus i am willing to travel to taste good food... hence my tummy... hehehehe).

Popeye's on the other hand is more expensive.
    i eat it like... 2times a month(hehehehe)?

i always order... the 2pc meal with UPSIZE which includes... 2 pc of chicken(always a combo of either drumstick/wing with thigh/breast), 1 fries n 1 whipped potato, 1 drink n of cos, the super shiok milk biskit(S$7.45).

i would dare say Popeye's fries n whipped potatoes are way beta than KFC's equivalent.

i also think that Popeye's fried chicken are as good as KFC's Crispy. but... lose out to KFC's Original.

I ate it (arnold) at Pasir Ris Branch before and I found their food is salty and expensive than main branch at City Plaza. I eat only at their spring chicken

dun get me wrong either as we're all entitled to our own opinion as everybody's taste differ greatly.

wat might be shiok n delicious to me might not be to u or others.

thus, i do travel to different parts of Singapore to nail my favourite foods and try out alot of different stalls/shops that sell the same food.... personal interest la.

another fried chicken i would like to suggest...

Old Chang Kee's fried chicken wings(S$1.20/. each). they are available at some outlets only.

if u come across one that sells, try one. very shiok!
