I thought I'll take some images of my white Christmas Cactus (Schlumbergera bridgesii), before the fowers fall off, so I took some close ups and some macros. All taken with the E-500 and the ED50/f2 macro lens.
#1 is a close up, using ED50/f2 lens ![]() #2 is a macro, using 41 mm extension tube + ED50/f2 lens ![]() #3 is a 5:1 macro, using 12.5 mm extension tube + macro converter + 28.5 mm extension tube + ED50/f2 lens ![]() Today I continued taking some more shots. I am not shure which background is best, black, blue or nothing except what's oof behind. #4 ![]() #5 ![]() More on the next page.

Hi, is there something wrong with the link? I can't see any of the pictures?
Curiously, which part of Sweden do you live in? Last edited by Samie; 31st December 2007 at 06:11 AM. Reason: wrong spelling |

If you have a slow Internet connection, it may take a while for the images to load.
I live in the souther part of Sweden, near a small town, Lund.

OlyFlyer, you are the mad Macroman!!!
Lovely macro... you should have taken the bellows out for a spin too! Nice one... I prefer OOF background and the blue one... some colours will be nice... and try different compositions for the macro too, my friend. Maybe use the white flower as the OOF background?? You are a mad scientist with the macro stuff... looking forward to more...

Nice macro, OlyFlyer.
I wish I could attain the high mag. rate as you have in #3. Delicious "caviar" on the stamens .Likewise, I prefer the coloured background. Cheers.. & Happy New Year. NatureTTL

Welcome to ClubSNAP, and I am happy you solved the browser problem. I agree, interesting that only two Swedes found their way to CS. Yes, Blekinge is not very far away, maybe we should start a South Swedish Olympus dSLR Club.

I actually also think the blue and the blurred background is the best, but since the use will be computer screen desctop image, maybe the black is better for that purpose.

Thank you for the comment. High magnification is not that difficult to get, just get some OM extension tubes, and a 50mm OM lens, reverse it on tubes and you have it. That is, unless you want to do the modifications I did, and in that case you can combine any OM gear and still use the ED50/f2 macro lens.

Not next year (actually now it is this year, since it is 2008) but last year, 2007 years shots, using my bellows. I don't know if I have posted these, but I hope not. #1 Close ![]() #2 Closer ![]() #3 Closest. ![]() The magnification is about 7.5:1.

Wow... that is some serious bellows work... I really wish I am staying near you so that I can get to borrow the bellows and play around with it... looks like a lot of fun! Can really get super close up to study stuff... I cannot imagine in the eyes of a nature photographer like "NatureTTL", what kind of "gross things" will he end up shooting??? LOL!
Thanks for sharing this, OlyFlyer... nice colours and nice "super macros!"

Sorry, I missed your question. The closest distance is at largest magnification. Working distance is then something between 2-5 cm (1-2 inches). Very close, so a lot of light is needed.
