Usual suspects, MS Colour, Alan Photo, John 3:16 and Harvey Norman Funan Centre.

Dude... have you been reading the other threads? These four always surface...

Happy shopping, and happy new year!

Sorry... hijack a little... I'm also looking for 70-300 lens. an oly one from MS was quoted to me at $580...

And i was told by a sales person in Tangs that there's a Sigma 70-300 DC SUPER MACRO at about $400... (i only saw for Canon and Nikon... but he say he can bring it in on wed)

I was baffled... i didn't know there was one for 4/3 from sigma... anyone is aware? i mean if there's one and its going at that price and feedback of that lens... the choice for me is clear...

Can anyone enlighten me?

I myself am aware of the 70-300 DC Super Macro from Sigma, sure the price diff is there but considering that the glasses used in the Olympus version and Sigma version, also, the Olympus version design is based on the Sigma design i believe,so far, lenses made for 4/3 systems come from Zuiko,Sigma and Leica/Panasonic,hope this helps

It's believed that the ZD one is same as the Sigma one, which means not designed for digital. But I don't know.

The ZD version has been re-engineered.

Lens design are pretty fixed, that's why the element layout for the ZD is identical to the Sigma (there's only that few ways to design a 70-300mm lens...)

drakon, does that mean that a Sigma mount is the 4/3 version?

I check on their webby and they do have one in sigma mount... so sigma being a participating company for 4/3. That would mean its a 4/3 mount right?

Hmm... if thats the case... a 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO DG MACRO is $US300... thats still cheaper that the zuiko lens... time to price hunt :P

No, Sigma has their own proprietary lens mount - different from the 4/3 mount.

They just participate in making their lens with 4/3 mounts, but their lens are not designed for digital sensors in Oly and Pana DSLRs,so what I believe is that 70-300 is,to put it in a way, optimised for flim whereas, the exterior of the ZD 70-300 is visually identical to Sigma ones except it's interior is different from that of the Sigma version, thus making ZD 70-300 optimised for the 4/3 sensor

The 70-300mm is obviously a Sigma lens! If you peel off the tacky 140-600mm sticker and remove the Olympus-disguise casing... haha jk

Anyway, "recommend" will indeed depend on whether it's cheaper...and/or service is good. So far Bally Photo at Funan (John 3:16 level) offloads at $535 and you may be able to negotiate better. John offers at higher prices but with better deals on the filter and good friendly service.
