What's your budget? What do you require?
I can recommend you the whole Ixus range from Ixux 70 to Ixus 960IS right now, cos you haven't stated what you're looking for in the camera. Wide angle lens? How much zoom? |

Go for the Ixus 860IS. Has wide angle and image stabiliser, best in the Ixus range.

but if you intend to move on to DSLR later
you may want to consider a prosumer model like S5 IS |

If you want something that feels a bit metallic and heavier, and if budget permits, then maybe consider the IS series. 860IS: 8mp, 3" LCD, Wide angle (WA) 28mm 960IS: 12mp, 2.5" LCD, but no WA. Frankly, the IXUS series trives on looks and the "Made-in-Japan" tag. If you do not mind a bit bulkier, consider the Powershot series (except G9). They are cheaper, feature for feature with IXUS. Plus, (1). they use AA batteries, a convenience if you run out of juice, and (2) some have tilting LCD. A650IS (12mp) would be a good choice. Another would be the A720IS (8mp) If RAW pics is a must then all IXUS are out. Go for the G9. Take your time... Know your needs... Go to your favourite shop... Touch, feel. The salesperson should offer you good advice if you know them well... And all the best to your purchase... |

Thanks for the recommendation,
960IS has a bigger sensor size than 860IS Does sensor size matter alot for compact? Or wide angle features provide a btr plus point? |
