My 2 cents: It's too complicated. You're trying to show two screens simultaneously, and you'll just confuse people because they don't know what to focus on. Not to mention that you're putting text over your demo reel for the duration of it - they'll focus more on reading the text than the videos, moreso since the text is in the middle of the screen. If you want to show off your diversity, i'd recommend more discreet titles at the bottom of the video MTV style that corresponds with the footage displayed. For instance if you're showing stuff from a corporate video, at the bottom corner put the text: Corporate Video blah blah company. Also remember that reels are about quality rather than quantity. Your reel tries to appear more impressive than it is by showing off the huge volume of stuff that you've done, but you never really give the viewer a chance to actually see what you've done. Imagine a guy coming up to you and saying: you should hire me coz i've done corporatevideosweddingsindustrialvideoslegaldeposi toriesmusicvideosshortfilmsfilmfilmsetcetc.
However this would be great as an introduction to a reel - while i was watching it i kept waiting for the 'real reel' to start, but it was just graphic after graphic after graphic, and as a result i never really got a feel for your work itself, apart from the fact that you're good at motion graphics. Lastly, I'm not a big fan of the 'flying ball' transitions you used, but that's just me. I just felt it looked a bit unprofessional and cheesy compared to the standard of your other graphics which were pretty good. All in all i hope you don't take this negatively, as i'm just offering my opinion of your reel. |

Hi david,
Some of the orginal footages are of Mpg2 and some just Mpg1. then i recompile everything to Mpg2 so as to burn it to DVD. after which I used the Mpg2 to upload straight to multiply.. there's why u can see some differ in quality in diff clips.. will try vimeo.com.. thxLast edited by sundazz; 30th December 2007 at 10:30 PM. |

Hi MalcolmOng, thx for your frank comments.. think u referring to the montage.. For the montage video.. i think u have got it.. my objective for this montages is to introduce my services that i am providing.. therefore text is the most effective way to inform people.. which supposed to be my main subject.. ![]() the other full videos are just some of the past work tat i have done for reference.. hmm.. probably I shd not use the words "my reel".. maybe shd say "my services" instead.. but this "sub forum" is showcase lay.. ![]() Anyway thx again for your feedback.. noted your point.. and i have to admit my works are abit over of "corporate style".. .. guess nature of my production thru out the years tat i have acquire ba.. |

I think it gets the message across OK. Would prefer the text a bit off centre but that's just personal preference. I do agree with Malcolm about the bouncing ball though, it doesn't match the standard of the rest of the production. Anyway, hope it brings you lots of projects.
