personnal preference - 12-60.
Why? cause eventually E3 poison will get to me... and E3 + 12-60 = fastest AF. if you love sharp and crisp pictures and alot of wide angle... maybe the 11-22 will suit u better... 12-60 is not as sharp... as reviews say... i don't have it... yet must control first... else volcano will erupt at home... ![]()

The 12-60mm.
SWD = Faster AF Sharpness, though might not be as sharp as 11-22mm, but it's sharp enough and you have more "functionality". You can use it not only to take wide-angles. Zoom range is good. Sell the 14-54mm. ![]()

And seriously... there's no need for a new lens... your 50mm is the 50f2 right? that should be more than sufficent. ![]() If you like to maybe can look into the longer zooms for a different perspective for portraits? Else if you're looking for thinner DOF for portraits... there is some limitation... maybe can consider getting some other manual lens with adapters?

i have both lenses.
Landscape = 11-22 (sharp edge to edge) brighter than 12-60. anything else = 12-60 edge distortion & softness at widest , very fast (SWD), very sharp at all aperture except F8 when going against 11-22 drop to F4 abit too fast in the zoom range. both lenses are considered sharp. |

The 11-22mm and the 12-60mm are two different beasts altogether.
Applications for the 11-22mm do not require blazing fast AF. The 12-60mm OTOH is great for the general photography and candids - which fast AF speed is preferable.

I owned both lenses, and I do find that the 12-60 is a more usable lens in the range but the 11-22 has a slightly more dramatic perspective though.
But the 12-60 is a newer lens with SWD, and therefore I would recommend it. I am using the 12-60 most of the time now.

Hey guys,
Quick one. Does anyone use the 11-22 extensively for portraits? |

As for portraits, the 12-60mm or 14-54mm will give you more flexibility.
