Hi CSians,
Which one would you buy if you are given the 4 choices? 1. Canon G9 2. Ricoh Caplio GX100 3. Nikon P5100 ![]() 4. Leica D-Lux 3 These cameras have their own niche and characteristics! ![]() |

i would go for the gx100 but i must add it's not a camera for everyone. and it's not a fair vote since i own one.
![]() you can see some of the photos taken with the gx here. don't expect too much as there are only a few photos as i have yet to process the rest. Last edited by jfoo; 24th December 2007 at 11:05 PM. |

I was thinking of buying a similar camera.
Can any one tell me - can you selective focus with these cameras, or is it automated by the camera's programmes? I've asked the shop keepers, but they keep pointing me to the manual focus mode (which is not quite the same). thanks in advance, Mandy |

I think they refer to manual settings... such as Aperture or Shutter priority. These cameras do not have a lens whereby we can turn and focus. Probably you may point to a subject and depress the shutter halfway, just like any ordinary digital camera. Correct me if I am wrong ![]() |

in normal mode, you can lock focus by half-press of the shutter release. i believe all the other compacts would be the same. |

GX100 got my choice due to price and performance.
If Dlux3 is cheaper, I will recommend that as I am using Panasonic Lx2. |

GX-100.
I believe the Leica and the Panasonic are actualy pretty similar, except for the Leica having the branding. |

How is the quality of the Ricoh actually? Heard it is a mainland China production.
