Hi guys,
Have anyone purchased anything camera or lens in Japan via online locally? I have the intention of buying a point and shoot camera as my Nikon Coolpix 5200 is dying. After some research, I have more or less decided on Canon IXUS 860 or Canon IXY 910 as is known in Japan. The Canon IXUS 860 cost about S$669 based on the current "promotion" but if I buy online, it would be much cheaper, maybe about S$450 estimated. Of course the downside is the warranty issue. I doubt if there would be an International Warranty given. I have searched the net and found a few avenues: http://cgi.ebay.com.sg/CANON-IXY-DIG...QQcmdZViewItem http://www.mapcamera.com/sho/search....01740&class=03 http://kakaku.com/shop/1065/PrdKey=00500211163/ I am not sure how reliable are these websites and would like to ask you advice and comments. Thanks. |

No one in the forum has the experience in buying items from Japan via online locally? Or is there anyone you know that does that?
I am really considering to do so, as the price difference is pretty attractive, minus the warranty issue. |

As far as I know they don't want to sell overseas, unlike in the eighties when they did......

I have checked MKIIn (used) online, the price is quite resonable, but after I email to them for the quotation and payment details, they have answered me that since the camera price exceed certain amount, they can not shipout Japan. Finally I got my MKIIn from B&H. Any brother know the reason?

i have also looked at VPOSTUSA. it seems that the price there is pretty reasonable. i wonder if a normal digital camera is heavy and whether the delivery charges would be expensive. |

VPOST can be quite ex as it does not depend on weight alone... i hear that they take in consideration of the vol... Eg if your item is light but the packaging is a BIG box.. they will calculate the rate base on the dimensions of the box and use vol weight... so be careful if not u end up wit ex delivery charges...
