Made of plastic. I also don't understand why so expensive. Maybe it is ORIGINAL...

That's what collectors are willing to pay for it, this lenshood is so rare.......many collectors have this lens, but not the hood, that's why........

If you are a collector one want to have it as complete as possible.

The value of any authentic collectible is determined by what collectors are willing to pay.

Also, the more complete the set (imagine rare lens, plus leather case, plus all original lens caps for that lens, plus original super rare lens hood, and if ever the super lucky one finds it, the original cardboard box and packaging material and literature in good condition), the more the likelihood of the perceived value of the set going up astronomically (way way past the combined total cost of acquiring each component of the set).

It's not only passion, but for investment purposes as well.

Well, the lens is already quite rare, so the accessories are even rarer. This wasa high end lens in those days, not many people could afford them, so not many were sold. Since not many were sold at the time of production, not many are left now........

This lens is for a Nikon rangefinder
