hi all, any CSers are currently using this lens can kindly give comments? don't have much info from the net except from digital photography philippines forum, where it is quite well received.

yes i have, but would it be right to assume that the optics for the hsm and the non-hsm version would be the same? this one i have no idea, hence, just wondering.

I do believe they are identical.
From the Sigma website, it states on both lens info pages that the lens is made up of "15 Elements in 13 Groups". |

Am interested in this lens too - but after some comparisons, it seems that the FOV angles are different:

thanks for bringing that point up! So looks like the non-HSM is a little wider...I probably wouldn't have known anyway!
For people who are interested, my recent quotations obtained were: J316: $840 local Old MS:$840 local Lords: $775 (must confirm whether local or grey) OP:$630 grey call cash price IIRC. I'm contemplating grey or local.
