Default 70-300 Opinions

Alright it seems like a goodly number of you all have gotten the 70-300mm proper (I know I have, and what are the rest of you waiting for? =p). I'm wondering whether anyone has any gripes about the lens? I for one find that it hunts quite a bit in low light (indoors) on the E510. Zzt zzt...no lock. Issue is only slightly helped by switching to center AF point only.

Upgrade to the E-3... it doesn't hunt at all even in dimly lit parts of the room at night.

teehee *health bar turns purple* But seriously...nobody else (not using the E3 =p) is noticing this issue? Or any other issue, of course.

[poison] That is maybe due to the fact that everyone is using E-3 these days. [/poison]

it is so tempting to buy the E-3 after holding it.

It feels even better than the E-1 and it definitely works better.

Must resist until March 08 bonus.

Do u all think the Great Singapore Sale would have same promo?

dun resist...just succumb to it....Resistance causes stress-related symptoms and illnesses ie..lack of sleep, depression, frustration from looking at all those wonderful E3 pics, the joy (lack of) holding, stroking and fondling it, the anxiety etc..... all these will lead to high-blood pressure.
Why suffer in pain? Dun fight it.....you have to enjoy the fruits of E3 asap.

And yes, all the wonderful things about the 70-300 is true.

Speaking of at night, I think it's not a very valid comparison since we all have different sorts of lighting at night and different subjects. For all I know, the room could be a lot dimmer and everyone's trying to shoot single colored wallpaper. heh. I tried it again today and it worked fine. haha

But yes, it is a very nice lens. I really should put it through its paces tomorrow.

Newer? You mean plastic mount and made in india? haha jk I somehow doubt the prices will drop a lot in the near future. Maybe Olympus will come up with the cash back offers they're throwing around overseas?

anyway has anyone noted anything odd about the 70-300? In dpreview forums they mentioned some MF skipping. I have not noticed that so far.
