You know, Dell and .....so on...

Go to SimLim Square, find an honest PC hardware shop.
Ask them to custom assemble one based on your choices of best hardware.

Forget the freaking useless "free gifts" dangled by branded PC makers to hook buyers to purchase their off-the-shelf desktop PCs .
Agreed. Which hardware shop u find honest? any recommendations

I have had good experiences with Fuwell and Cybermind... although I do buy from other shops as well, these 2 are my first choice for full system... and you can go to the Funan branch of both as well - less crowded so service is usually better, although their stock of parts not as good as their Sim Lim branches...

Just upgraded my rig over the weekend cos my previous motherboard died:

    Q6600
Asus P5KR Mobo (640 with processor)
2GB HyperX 800MHz Kingston Ram (47 bucks per piece)
    Thermalright Ultima 90 (85)
    Centurion 5 Casing (70)
    Leadtek 8600 GT (170)

    HDD and PSU (550W) recycled

All bought from Fuwell... they're quite reputable chaps, can lelong lelong with them one... ask the boss to give you discount or round down the price.

actually what kind of gfx card really help in photo editing? stuffs you photographer do...

i know those mainstream gfx card like nvidia 8800GTX are good for GAMES... but are they also good for photo editing also?
does more gfx rams play a part in speeding up photo editing?
is there a limit to the RAM that the s/w use? nowadays gfx ram can be up to 1GB, the s/w maybe using only 256MB, this means that all the 768MB are wasted...

many times u see ppl recommend get the best gfx card, but i may just be a waste of money. money that can be put to other better use.
