It depends largely on how you would want to use your camera.
1. If you take mostly videos, or taking pictures in strange positions, contemplate using external flash, prefers stereo sounds, want faster downloads, more in-built picture enhancements, then the S5. 2. If you take mainly groups, needs longer zoom functions, prefer using EVF, like idiot-proof menus and super lightweight, then the FZ18.

did once consider the FZ18, but ended up with S5. why? guess the S5 looks better and i've always gone for Canon when it comes to compacts and prosumers.

Lumix FZ18 has a Leica-designed 28-504mm (35mm equiv) lens.
Having a 28mm equiv wide angle is particular useful. |

I don't own neither.... but did try out my friend's FZ18.
The OIS works wonderfully...... and so did the 28mm wide angle lens. And I think much lighter than S5IS..... ![]() |
